The role of Head of Therapy

Explore the role of the Head of Therapy at our Fostering Agency in Essex

“As Head of Therapy for the fostering agencies, my role includes overseeing the therapy provision and clinical needs of all of the children within those agencies, across Essex, London, Kent and Suffolk.

Day to day, this includes completing specialist assessment and treatment plans for young people placed with our agencies and their families, and supporting foster carers to understand and meet the identified needs of the young people.

Additionally, I manage and supervise a team of therapists and social workers providing individual and group therapy across the agencies and liaise with a wide range of external agencies and professionals including, on occasion, providing reports to court.

My role is often challenging and stimulating, particularly given the wide range of young people and presenting issues that I encounter. No two days are the same.

I am fortunate and privileged to play a part in developing a positive future for the often troubled young people we care for, gaining great satisfaction in observing the positive changes they can make for themselves and others.”
